Barclay, the Golden Retriever, forms an unexpected bond with a duck, forging an unbreakable friendship that keeps them inseparable.

How many heartwarming animal friendships have we witnessed? most likely a lot. The internet is flooded with adorable interspecies partnerships that certainly refute the idea that only humans are capable of exhibiting compassion and including others.

But even with people from other species, our animals are quite capable of developing deep attachments. And it’s adorable when they do. Some of these connections have undoubtedly been witnessed by us in the form of animal friendships taking place inside our own homes.

Rudy the duck and Barclay the golden retriever are great friends in every way. Even though the dog and duck have a peculiar bond that was largely fueled by food, it’s endearing to see them spending so much time together. Pam Ishiguro of Orange County owns seven ducks, including Rudy. She mentioned that her dog Barclay wasn’t really thrilled when she first bought the flock of ducks.

The puppy was actually rather uninterested in the ducks until he realized that friendship with them meant having access to an endless supply of food. Barclay enjoys eating the food the ducks eat, as their owner noted.

The duck and the dog are very much in love, regardless of how they were first brought together. Even though Rudy is more of the alpha duck in the partnership and has a tendency to boss about poor Barclay, Ishiguro noted that the two get along fairly well.

They had a love-hate relationship, as Ishiguro put it. When they are together, one of them is constantly pursuing or leaping on the other, whereas when they are apart, they are constantly screaming out to one another. It definitely sounds like there are siblings involved. Watch video below
