Rufous Hornero nest
The Rufous Hornero (Furnarius rufus) is a well-known bird in South America, particularly in Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay, famous for its unique, oven-shaped nest made of mud and straw. This sturdy, dome-like structure resembles a clay oven, which is why the species is often referred to as the "ovenbird." The Rufous Hornero constructs its nest on trees, fence posts, or even buildings, and it has a small entrance leading to a chamber where eggs are laid. Both males and females collaborate in building these nests, which can take several weeks to complete. The nest is not only remarkable for its strength but also for its role in protecting the birds from predators and harsh weather conditions.
