Painted spurfowl
The Painted Spurfowl is a striking and colorful bird found in the rocky scrublands and forests of the Indian subcontinent. Males boast a vibrant plumage with a rich combination of chestnut, black, and white speckles, while females have more subdued, earthy tones. Both sexes have distinctive spurs on their legs, which are used in territorial and mating displays. These birds are ground-dwellers, often seen foraging for seeds, insects, and berries. Known for their loud, distinctive calls, Painted Spurfowls are elusive and well-camouflaged, making them a rewarding sight for keen birdwatchers and naturalists.
